About The Position

FALL 2025 START DATE Position Summary: The Career and Professional Development ( CCPD ) Graduate Assistant will provide key administrative, project management, and student support to department staff, helping to create meaningful opportunities for students to achieve their academic, personal, and professional goals. Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing employment-related data, assisting with marketing efforts for career events, and managing special projects. The GA will also offer direct student services during Drop-In Center hours, support the Executive Director with day-to-day operations, and serve as a department ambassador to promote services, programs, and resources across campus. A graduate student in the MBA program would have the opportunity to engage with large sets of data through our First Destination Survey and support the reporting process through the First Destination Report. There are also opportunities to collect and analyze other data through our Center. The GA will be able to engage with marketing efforts and determine an appropriate marketing strategy for the Center. A graduate student in the Higher Education Leadership program will learn the functional area of career services and provide direct service to students as well as network with other offices across campus to gain a broad understanding of student support services. Theories of counseling and student development would be applied on a day-to-day basis. A graduate student in the Organizational Leadership program will learn about organizations through the employers we vet through our job search platform, as well as through employer engagement opportunities. The GA can apply organizational leadership theories through helping to manage and support our student workers as well as our Drop-In Center.

Requirements

  • Accepted into a graduate program at North Central College.
  • Ability to manage ongoing projects and provide direct service to students.
  • Proficiency using MS Office Suite, specifically Excel.
  • Advanced skills using Qualtrics and other survey tools.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and visualization, with the ability to interpret data and present insights through compelling data storytelling for diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to provide administrative support, including managing schedules, handling correspondence, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze internship and employment-related data to prepare reports for use within the department and with key stakeholders.
  • Learn and manage reporting functions of Handshake, Qualtrics, and other career-related and labor market platforms.
  • Develop and distribute the annual First Destination Survey in accordance with National Association of Colleges and Employers ( NACE ) standards.
  • Manage special projects under the supervision of the department staff, such as campus networking events and career programming.
  • Aid the Executive Director with day-to-day administrative tasks, including scheduling, preparing materials for meetings and events, and managing various projects and workflows.
  • Assist with marketing and social media efforts for career events, job fairs, and department resources.
  • Consult with students during Drop-In Center hours to provide career-related guidance, including resume and cover letter reviews, Handshake and LinkedIn profile consultations, and internship/job search strategies.
  • Serve as a department ambassador on the NCC campus to promote services, career programs, fairs, and resources.
  • Other duties as assigned.
