About The Position

The Career and Education Case Manager at Quinsigamond Community College (QCC) is responsible for fostering student self-efficacy and persistence by developing educational and career goals for students. This part-time position involves collaborating with instructors, providing workshops, and referring students to external resources to support their educational and career aspirations. The role is integral to the Adult Community Learning Center's mission to assist students in overcoming barriers and achieving success in their educational journeys.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Counseling, Education, or a related field.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse ethnic, racial, and linguistic groups.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Counseling, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience in Adult Education.
  • Experience and skill using industry-standard computer applications, such as Microsoft Office (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Bilingual.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of a career and education curriculum integrated into classroom lessons.
  • Collaborate with instructors to plan and coordinate lessons.
  • Develop career pathways and provide activities for students to learn about postsecondary education and employment.
  • Help students set realistic timelines for achieving their individual education and career goals.
  • Meet with students to facilitate their transition into the program and ensure retention.
  • Counsel students through level changes and other classroom issues in partnership with instructors.
  • Provide workshops, speakers, and service information to students.
  • Monitor student progress and attendance to identify at-risk students and refer them to social service agencies.
  • Refer students to relevant educational or workplace programs.
  • Collaborate with other Case Managers and Instructors to create a culture of self-efficacy and persistence.
  • Identify potential employment opportunities for qualified students.
  • Follow up on students who have left the program and record relevant information.
  • Maintain confidential records and electronic advising notes.
  • Become proficient with the state reporting system (LACES).
  • Stay current with the Worcester area job market and community-based resources for employment and training.
  • Support the teaching and learning process while fostering a student-centered environment.
  • Work collaboratively with other areas of the college to promote collegiality and teamwork.
  • Embrace diversity and inclusiveness, supporting equal rights for all individuals.
  • Provide high-quality service to students, community, and staff, continuously assessing and revising processes.
