We’re on the hunt for our next Career Advisor. This integral position is responsible for providing a full range of career services to job seekers in a fast-paced Workforce1 center environment. The Career Advisor supports customers through intake, assessments, career advisement, workshops, resume assistance, interview preparation, training referrals, and ongoing follow-up. This role also requires strong documentation, accurate data entry, and close coordination with recruitment, training, and center operations. As someone who believes in helping others no matter their background, this individual puts the job seeker first while managing multiple priorities in a high-volume, public-facing setting.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred. One to two years of experience providing career navigation, case management, vocational counseling, employment services, or related customer service support required. Bachelor’s degree in a related field is a plus.
  • Prior experience preferred in working with individuals receiving public assistance or those who are experiencing or have experienced substance abuse, homelessness, mental health issues, or have been involved with the justice system
  • Ability to establish rapport, build trust, empower, and provide occupational guidance to customers
  • An understanding of the special needs of an economically and socially disadvantaged population
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to work with diverse populations
  • Record-keeping, case noting, HIPAA compliance, and maintaining confidentiality
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including active and reflective listening, motivational interviewing, authentic communication, and conflict resolution
  • Highly effective problem-solving and follow up skills
  • Ability to focus on deadlines and details
  • Excellent networking skills

Responsibilities

  • Perform intake, orientation, and career advisement sessions for job seekers in both individual and group settings
  • Conduct assessments to identify customer needs, employment goals, job readiness, and potential training opportunities
  • Facilitate workshops such as Create a Resume, Resume Upgrade, and Acing the Interview, as well as condensed workshops and informational sessions as needed
  • Support customers with resume development, resume revisions, interview preparation, and general job readiness coaching
  • Assist with training, assessment, and career advisement-related processes, including identifying barriers, providing career coaching, referring customers to appropriate resources, completing eligibility review, proctoring assigned sessions, follow-up, and case documentation
  • Support customers through high-volume walk-in traffic while maintaining strong customer service and professionalism
  • Enter services, assessments, case notes, and customer documentation accurately in funder and internal systems, including WorkSource1 and scheduling tools
  • Upload resumes and supporting documents, maintain organized customer records, and ensure timely follow-up on next steps
  • Coordinate closely with Recruitment/Account Managers and other internal teams to support job matching, referrals, and customer movement through services
  • Attend offsite events, center initiatives, outreach activities, and trainings as needed
  • Provide support for special projects, including training initiatives and site-based workforce programs, as assigned
