About The Position

The Career Advisor works with students and alumni to explore career communities, secure experiential and professional opportunities, and successfully transition from college to career. In alignment with the Career Center’s Career Everywhere initiative, this role collaborates with faculty, staff, and campus partners to embed career readiness into the student experience. The Advisor supports the development of innovative programs and initiatives that equip students with the competencies and confidence needed for lifelong career success.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree, AND:
  • 12 months in student programming, student services, or closely related experience.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Composition and proofreading skills
  • Computer skills, including proficiency in navigating and maintaining a CRM
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and outcomes
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to build rapport with students, faculty, and staff

  • Experience in Higher Ed in a student-facing role

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, individualized career advising to students, empowering them to articulate skills, pursue meaningful opportunities, and achieve post-graduation success.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to assigned colleges, departments, and campus units to embed career development into the academic experience in alignment with the Career Everywhere initiative.
  • Proactively build and sustain relationships with faculty, staff, and campus stakeholders to expand access to career education and increase student engagement.
  • Collaborate with academic partners to integrate career readiness competencies into curriculum, courses, and co-curricular experiences.
  • Design and facilitate dynamic workshops, classroom presentations, and customized programming tailored to specific majors, student populations, and departmental needs.
  • Lead intentional outreach efforts to targeted student populations, ensuring equitable access to career resources and programming.
  • Advise students on résumé and CV development, interviewing, job and internship search strategies, networking, and professional communication.
  • Conduct mock interviews and provide actionable feedback to strengthen student preparedness and confidence.
  • Research industry trends and employer needs to enhance advising conversations and inform academic partnerships.
  • Represent the Career Center at campus events, faculty meetings, and university-wide initiatives to promote services and strengthen visibility.
  • Track engagement data and contribute to first-destination reporting to assess impact and guide strategic decision-making.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, innovative team culture committed to expanding career development across campus.
