About The Position

The Care Village Coordinator will function 10-15 hours/week and is responsible for orchestrating ministry /services of the NCBAM Care Village located at Kennedy Home. Under the direction of the NCBAM Director, he/she will coordinate Care Village ministries and activities at the Kinston Care Village-Kennedy Home.

Requirements

  • Personal commitment to Jesus Christ and alignment with the statement of faith of BCH
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to operate agency vehicle for frequent travel
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Windows environment with Excel and skills in database management)
  • Successful in establishing and maintaining meaningful and quality relationships
  • Possess skills in proper telephone etiquette, active listening, and assessment
  • Excellent communication skills, including public speaking capability and the ability to relate effectively with people from all economic, racial, age, ethnic, and social groups
  • Experience in conducting community outreach and public speaking
  • Must have the capability to develop, manage, plan, organize, implement, monitor and maintain Care Village programs and services
  • Possess a working knowledge and the ability to network community resources and church ministries for the aging.
  • Meets the general qualifications for employment as outlined in the institution's personnel policies
  • Respects the cultural diversity of others, and strives to create a positive relationship
  • Professes to be a Christian believer.
  • Submits an individual Statement of Faith, Acknowledgement, and Pledge as part of employment requirements.
  • Ability to read, write and complete necessary documents.
  • Possess the skills to effectively present information (both written and oral) and respond to questions from callers, resources and the general public.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred bachelor’s degree in Gerontology or social work or two years’ experience in related field or a combination of experience and education.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully implement the Care Village model of ministry.
  • Establish and maintain NCBAM programs and events within the Care Village
  • Represent NCBAM and BCH in community planning, functions, meetings, and public speaking engagements
  • Promote, establish, and maintain the NCBAM care team model for care of the aging
  • Sustain positive relationships with churches, associations, and state convention leadership
  • Provide leadership in recruiting resources and care providers for the Care Village model of ministry
  • Provide intake and coordination of services for Care Village members
  • Make assessments for needs and complete care plans to assure the safety and well-being of aging individuals located within the Care Village
  • Ability to maintain accurate records on each member of the Care Village as it relates to care plans
  • Participate in strategic planning and team meetings
  • Answer incoming NCBAM calls by providing callers with requested information using a variety of data bases programs and services and one’s own knowledge of human services available in North Carolina.
  • Assessing callers’ needs, facilitating problem-solving with callers and making accurate referrals to appropriate community agencies, churches, and other local programs and services that are available
  • Follow up with callers when appropriate to determine if they received the services they needed
  • Make public presentations to Care Village attendees, and local church partners
  • Input information about churches, associations, and Care Village members into the NCBAM’s data base
  • Acquire and maintain a high level of familiarity with the different data bases, programs and services for aging adult needs
  • Research and investigate information regarding community services for the aging
  • Continue increasing knowledge and skills in the area of aging adult care and services as needed to carry out the responsibilities of the position
  • Serve as an advocate for members when appropriate
  • Represent the institution and mission of NCBAM in a professional manner
  • Participate in 90-day and annual staff performance evaluations
  • Keep supervisor informed on current status of total work responsibilities
  • Carry out all assignments and directives of the Director
