The Patient Care Technician, also referred to as a Care Partner, is responsible for assisting in direct patient care specific to the assigned unit, including patient transfers, repositioning, and transporting patients, supplies, or specimens. This role ensures optimal patient care and physician service under the direct supervision of a professional nurse. This position is located at the Free Standing Emergency Department (FSED) in Clarksville.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of relevant work experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work under limited supervision.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective communications skills, empathy, and unconditional positive regard toward all patients and co-workers.
  • Compliance with organizational requirements, including policies, procedures and regulations specific to the unit.
  • Flexibility in schedule in order to meet the needs of the patients, community and staff.
  • Maintains annual education requirements prior to due date.
  • Knowledge and implementation of standardized PPE regarding the prevention / transmission of infectious disease / isolation processes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in direct patient care specific to the unit assigned.
  • Assist with patient transfers and repositioning.
  • Transport patients, supplies, or specimens.
  • Provide patient care based upon the nursing process in accordance with the hospital's mission & vision, as directed and observed by the RN/LPN.
  • Comply with organizational requirements, including policies, procedures and regulations specific to the unit.
  • Maintain annual education requirements prior to due date.
  • Implement standardized PPE regarding the prevention / transmission of infectious disease / isolation processes.
  • Perform any other duties as deemed necessary to ensure optimal patient care and physician service.
