About The Position

The Lundquist Institute for Biomedical Innovation at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is a leading nonprofit biomedical research organization located in Torrance, California. A Cardiovascular Ultrasound Technologist (also known as an Echo Tech) is responsible for performing non-invasive diagnostic ultrasound examinations of the heart and blood vessels. The role involves using specialized equipment to capture high-quality images of the heart’s structure, function, and blood flow, assisting cardiologists and healthcare providers in diagnosing and monitoring cardiovascular conditions.

Requirements

At least one year of ECHO ultrasound experience
ARDCS/ RCS/ CCI/ RVT equivalent certified

Responsibilities

Perform echocardiograms (ECG) and other ultrasound procedures to assess cardiac function, anatomy, and blood flow.
Conduct Doppler ultrasound studies to evaluate blood vessel flow and detect abnormalities.
Ensure accurate and complete patient history and examination records are documented before, during, and after procedures.
Position patients correctly for ultrasound examinations and apply gel to the skin before performing imaging procedures.
Capture high-quality images and video recordings of the heart and related structures.
Evaluate the results of ultrasound exams and provide preliminary analysis to the supervising physician or cardiologist.
Maintain and operate cardiovascular ultrasound equipment, ensuring it is calibrated and functioning properly.
Educate patients about the procedures, explaining the process and any necessary preparation.
Follow proper infection control procedures and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Collaborate with physicians, cardiologists, and other healthcare staff in diagnosing and planning patient care.
Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and hospital policies.
Participate in continuing education and training to stay up-to-date with advancements in cardiovascular ultrasound technology.
