The Heart Center at Mercy Medical Center is actively seeking a Cardiovascular Technician for a busy, fast-paced cardiology office. This is an opportunity to join our team, which is a rapidly expanding practice located in Baltimore City with hub sites in the surrounding counties. We are looking for bright, organized individuals with discipline to follow instructions and clinical orders but who also have initiative. Candidates will perform a variety of duties in both the clinical and administrative areas. Responsibilities include performing stress tests - monitoring ECG's while patient exercises on the treadmill (or receiving pharmacological stress agents), recording vitals, and reporting symptoms to supervising physician. A Cardiovascular Technician, or Cardiovascular Technologist, uses special technology to create images or perform tests that help physicians diagnose medical conditions. This information can help determine which patients require more invasive medical procedures. Their duties include operating equipment to create diagnostic images; preparing patients for and monitoring them during cardiovascular medical procedures; analyzing and reviewing images and records.

Requirements

  • ACLS certification is required
  • Certified cardiovascular technologist/technician
  • Must be familiar with indications and contraindications for stress testing
  • Have the physical stamina to work for long periods and to physically assist patients
  • Have the interpersonal and bedside manner skills to performs tasks effectively with emotional sensitivity to the stress and discomfort of patients
  • Communication skills to brief and interview patients, as well as communicate with physicians, technicians and other team members
  • Analytical skills and attention to follow precise diagnostic and procedural instructions as well as monitor/examine patients for diagnostic information
  • Cardiographic Tech credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Any specialty is applicable.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience: Bruce Protocol and conducting stress tests: 1 year (Preferred)
  • ACLS Certification (Preferred)
  • BLS Certification (Preferred)
  • Certified Cardiovascular technologist/technician (CCI)

Responsibilities

  • Performing stress tests - monitoring ECG's while patient exercises on the treadmill (or receiving pharmacological stress agents), recording vitals, and reporting symptoms to supervising physician.
  • Operating equipment to create diagnostic images
  • Preparing patients for and monitoring them during cardiovascular medical procedures
  • Analyzing and reviewing images and records
  • Must be able to perform treadmill exercise stress testing typically utilizing the Bruce or modified Bruce or Naughton protocol
  • Prepare patients for procedures.
  • Review medical history, position patients and clean/shave/numb testing sites as appropriate.
  • Interpret, describe and report test results; recognize recording errors and artifacts and react appropriately.
  • Monitor patient prior to, during and after procedures and promptly reports any abnormal findings in patient's condition.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment, supplies and lab area.
  • Ensure equipment is properly functioning.
  • Report potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel.
