About The Position

Supervises staff performing electrocardiogram (ECG) / cardiac stress testing and the monitoring of patients before, during and after testing. Oversees employees, enforces policies and procedures and monitors productivity. The echocardiographic lab at ZSFG is a friendly and collegial place to work. We believe in team work, providing excellent service, and supporting the overall mission of UCSF and SFDPH in providing exceptional patient care while promoting education and research. This position will report to the director of Echocardiolography and will supervise 5 Sonographers and a hospital assistant. The incumbent will perform clinical duties including performance of transthoracic studies in the echo lab as well as portable studies in patient units or procedural areas and exercise or pharmacologic stress tests. Participation in research, quality improvement, and education of students and residents/fellows is also expected and enriches this position. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $110,400 - $235,400 (Annual Rate). Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Graduation from an accredited Cardiac Sonography program or equivalent professional Sonography experience
  • Successful completion of the ARDMS and/or CCI examination or equivalent training certification Required professional licensing, training, and credentials must be current and maintained
  • Demonstrates subject matter knowledge of relevant cardiovascular services. . Ability to apply principles to procedures in an acute care setting
  • Solid knowledge of medical center, HR, relevant bargaining unit agreements and UC policies and processes. Knowledge of relevant external regulations and requirements
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills in training and guiding employees. Motivates and inspires staff to improve cardiovascular services
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines in a complex, challenging environment
  • Ability to organize assigned staff and unit operations in an efficient and effective manner
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with assigned staff, patients, and interdisciplinary team members part of the cardiovascular patient care
  • Skills to evaluate issues and identify solutions within defined procedures and policies. Demonstrated ability to solve problems and suggest solutions through critical thinking process
  • Verbal and written communication skills to explain technical cardiovascular concepts, actively listen, persuade, advise, and counsel
  • Advanced knowledge of organization's cardiovascular testing equipment and technology to troubleshoot issues and recommend improvements
