ALL dependent on education, experience, credentials, location, nature of practice, schedule and additional responsibilities. Why We Want You! We are seeking a dedicated Experienced Veterinary Assistant (VA) to join our Cardiology department. The ideal candidate will have a passion for providing high-quality care to animals, with a specific focus on cardiac health. As an integral part of our team, you will work closely with veterinarians, veterinary technicians and/or assistants, and other staff members to ensure the well-being of our patients.

Requirements

  • 2 years minimum Veterinary Medicine experience as a Veterinary Assistant
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards animals and their owners.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and common conditions (Preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians in performing diagnostic procedures and treatments related to cardiology.
  • Comfortable with monitoring anesthesia and assessing patients during procedures, including interventional cardiac catheterizations in our fluoroscopy operating room.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests, including electrocardiograms (ECGs), radiographs, routine blood monitoring, and echocardiograms.
  • Place Holter monitors on patients and educate clients in their use.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records and ensure proper documentation of procedures.
  • Communicating and educating pet owners on cardiac conditions, treatment plans, and at-home care.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide comprehensive care to patients.
  • Ensure compliance with veterinary regulations and standards.

  • Maintain a clean work environment to maintain any infectious disease protocols, handle medical/biomedical and infectious waste appropriately
  • Maintain inventory and supplies for procedures and patient husbandry.
