The Cardiology Tech 2 performs non-invasive, stat, pre-operative, and outpatient EKG testing. This helps physicians deliver patient care. Records heart muscle activity using an electrocardiograph machine. Provides data for diagnosing heart ailments. May help junior staff.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
  • 2 Years of Experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • Must be able to pass departmental skills evaluation.
  • Use of basic office equipment and computer literacy required.
  • Ability to multi-task and self-lead problem solving skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate precision and flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Completes all necessary steps to get and process electrocardiograms and other tests.
  • Explains test procedures to prepare patients and provide necessary instructions.
  • Utilizes all equipment for EKG procedures and records information for high-quality results.
  • Monitors heart rates, arrhythmias, and blood pressure under a physician's supervision.
  • Performs Holter Monitor hook-ups.
  • Performs event recorder hook-ups and trans telephonic monitoring in the Pacemaker Clinic.
  • Performs stress tests under a Senior EKG Technician or a physician's supervision.
  • Performs Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP) treatments.
  • Performs Signal Average EKGs.
  • Performs Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring.
  • Performs basic functions on the MUSE EKG database system.
  • Reviews medical records and documentation under a physician, nurse, or senior EKG tech's supervision.
  • Ensures department standards for safety and appropriate procedures are met.
  • Utilizes all equipment associated with EKG procedures properly and records the necessary information accurately to obtain high quality results.
  • Monitors vital signs under a physician, nurse, or senior EKG tech.
  • Records EKG data during study to ensure patient safety.
  • Participates as part of the diagnostic team.
  • Works with other departments to provide ancillary cardiac testing services.
  • Downloads EKGs accurately for storage and retrieval.
  • Performs retrievals as necessary.
  • Prints records and attaches documentation for billing transactions.
  • Inputs patient demographic and test data into the EKG machine accurately and promptly.
  • Instructs and trains new people in using equipment and testing protocols professionally.
  • Mentors junior technicians in arrhythmia recognition procedures to ensure safe testing methods.
  • Performs other position appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional and courteous way.
