About The Position

Under the direction of a Cardiologist, performs diagnostic ultrasonic procedures for evaluation as prescribed by a physician. Requires knowledge and use of highly specialized equipment.

Requirements

• Completed requirements as a Cardiac Sonographer from accredited program. Must be eligible to sit for Registered Cardiac Sonographer designation from national accreditation board.
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer within one year of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Registered Cardiac Sonographer in an established hospital non-invasive cardiac testing unit, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Explains examination procedure to patient and prepares patients for examination.
• Reviews clinical data on requisition and obtains additional patient information when necessary.
• Analyzes anatomical structure of patient, sets equipment, and performs ultrasound scan.
• Controls ultrasound to obtain proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied.
• Deciphers normal from abnormal pathology in order to obtain appropriate scan to show abnormality in its entirety.
• Completes appropriate paper work and database requirements for each test
