About The Position

Cardiac Registered Nurse (RN) – Outpatient Cardiology Office – Chesapeake Full-time The Cardiac Registered Nurse provides collaborative care to provide safe, comprehensive clinical care in the outpatient cardiology office setting.

Requirements

• RN-Diploma (non-degree), RN-Associate’s Degree or RN-Bachelor’s Level Degree
• Active, unrestricted nursing license and able to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Computer literate; prior experience with the use of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) preferred
• Cardiac experience strongly recommended
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Must have the ability to work as a team with coworkers and providers.
• Strong interpersonal and patient care skills

Nice To Haves

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• prior experience with the use of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) preferred
• Cardiac experience strongly recommended

Responsibilities

• Position includes both direct patient care and clinical calls (incoming/outgoing) calls with patients to complete triage/phone assessments, review of cardiac testing/labs results and medical treatment plans as prescribed by the provider
• Direct patient care includes nurse visits for: Blood pressure follow-up Medication Review EKG performance and review Walk-in, symptomatic patients
• Cardiac Stress Testing performance
• Heart Monitor application
• Coumadin Clinic
• Assisting Ultrasound Technicians administer bubble studies and enhanced echo imaging agents
• Enters data in the EMR
• Provides patient education
• Other activities and responsibilities as directed
• The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
• The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.
• The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
