JOB DESCRIPTION A competent Tele nurse needs to be flexible about working conditions and care about the extremely diverse needs of different patients. Their primary responsibility is to monitor EKG record vital signs, including oxygen levels, blood pressure, breathing patterns, etc. Monitoring patient progress and updating patient medical records as needed and informing doctors of any changes. Responds to patients experiencing cardiac pain. Performs various diagnostic tests. New hires may be eligible for a hiring bonus of up to $12,000+.

Requirements

  • National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) certification
  • A valid nursing certificate, BSN, or MSN degree from an accredited college or university.
  • A valid unencumbered RN license for the State.
  • Current vaccinations and health clearance certification.
  • Excellent knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques.
  • BLS & ACLS certification.
  • Must have previous experience with starting IVs.
  • Must have at least 12 months of relevant consecutive acute care experience in this specialty.
  • High-level interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with patients during stressful experiences.
  • Strong organizational abilities and good communication skills.
  • The appropriate license to work in their state/county.
  • Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

  • Using electrocardiogram (EKG) machines to continuously track heart performance.
  • Analyzing EKG results to establish baselines and spot abnormalities.
  • Recording EKG results to keep patient information accurate.
  • Overseeing stress tests to assess patients’ heart function.
  • Delivering emergency medical care when patients suffer heart attacks or other life-threatening problems.
  • Overseeing and coordinating the activities of telemetry technicians and other staff in their units
  • Administering medications and other treatments ordered by physicians.
  • Educating patients on lifestyle changes and ongoing treatments prior to discharge from the hospital.
  • And other duties as required.
