Position Summary: Implements and supervises phase II and phase III cardiac rehabilitation program.

Requirements

  • Certified BLS and ACLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association(AHA) obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date(obtain prior to employment is preferred).
  • Certified BLS and ACLS Provider credentialed from the American Red Cross obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date (obtain prior to employment is preferred).
  • B.S. in Exercise Physiology / Science or related degree is required. M.S. preferred.
  • Basic monitor interpretation skills and must successfully pass dysrhythmia class within 3 months of hire.
  • Must have experience educating patients on lifestyle changes to improve cardiovascular health and prevent future heart problems.
  • Experience using various exercise equipment, analyzing patient data, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.

Nice To Haves

  • ACSM Clinical Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient testing and assessment before and after rehabilitation.
  • Plans and teaches exercise therapy for patients utilizing test data, patient status and current medication regimen. Monitors patient's response and revises plan accordingly.
  • Recognizes contraindications and abnormal patient responses to exercise.
  • Responds appropriately to all situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals.
  • Provides exercise information for patients, peers and the community which may include public speaking and education classes.
  • Collaborates with physician regarding the exercise prescription for each patient. Maintains in-depth knowledge of monitoring and arrhythmia identification.
  • Preparation of report on individual patient to appropriate physician. Appropriately charts progress in Medical Records. Maintains appropriate documentation of patient care.
  • Develops and maintains in-depth knowledge of the departmental equipment. Maintains equipment in optimal functioning condition in accordance with manufactures guidelines. Provides staff with educational in-service for proper and safe use of equipment.
  • Other Duties as assigned.
