The group also offers outpatient surgery and endoscopy, imaging, cardiac testing, and infusion. The Elfers Cardiovascular Center is located on the Newton-Wellesley Hospital main campus (2014 Washington Street, 2nd floor, in Newton, MA). Our team provides a wide range of outpatient care for patients who have a high risk of heart disease. We provide diagnosis, management of acute and chronic conditions, and preventive care. This is a full-time, 40-hour role expected to be onsite Monday through Friday from 7:30am-4:00pm. The Cardiac Device Technician will partner with our experienced team performing a variety of patient care and technical duties in the in-patient setting and in our outpatient Cardiac Device Clinics. The Tech will perform comprehensive pacemaker and defibrillator checks, monitor loop recorders, and analyze and interpret device data to support patient care. Responsibilities may also include follow-up of patients participating in research studies and clinical trials in Cardiac device therapy utilizing new therapies and devices. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Completion of a Pacemaker Technician training program or equivalent work experience.
  • 1-2 years required

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support [ACLS (AHA)] - American Heart Association (AHA) preferred
  • Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Various Issuers preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for pacemaker implantation by explaining the procedure and answering any questions they may have.
  • Assist the physician during the pacemaker implantation procedure.
  • Program the pacemaker and adjusting its settings as needed.
  • Monitor patients after pacemaker implantation to ensure that the device is functioning properly and that the patient is not experiencing any complications.
  • Educate patients on the proper care and maintenance of their pacemakers.
  • Troubleshoot and repair pacemakers as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of each patient's pacemaker implantation and management.
