About The Position
The Cardiac Device Specialist, part of the Heart Rhythm/Device Department, focuses on device interrogations and programming for cardiac devices under supervision. They manage patient data, educate patients on cardiac care, and respond to emergencies, making crucial clinical decisions under physician protocol. Requirements
- Extensive experience as a Device Technician, Monitor/Telemetry, Electrophysiology, or Cardiovascular Technologist with in-depth cardiac device knowledge.
- Strong skills in cardiac rhythm recognition and effective communication.
- Proficiency in device interrogations and programming (Pacemakers, ICDs, Loop Recorders, home monitor equipment).
- Formal training in cardiac electrophysiology/cardiovascular technology, or significant experience in cardiac pacing/electrophysiology (2 years minimum) or device monitoring (5 years minimum).
- At least 1 year of cardiac services experience, with a preference for cardiac device-specific experience.
- Advanced skills in cardiac rhythm interpretation and pacemaker/ICD analysis, with previous vendor interaction preferred.
Nice To Haves
- Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) certification is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for device interrogation, ensuring informed consent and patient education.
- Conduct a range of cardiac device interrogations/programming, including assessments and arrhythmia evaluation under physician protocol.
- Document clinical history and test summaries in the electronic medical record.
- Operate and troubleshoot industry programmers/software, manage device patient software, and respond to emergencies.
- Coordinate daily workflow, educate patients on devices, and ensure accurate billing and coding.
