About The Position

The Cardiac Study Center (CSC) has partnered with Pulse Heart Institute (Pulse) for over 50 years, providing outpatient cardiology and billing services. In 2016, CSC collaborated with MultiCare Health System to establish Pulse Heart Institute, aiming to enhance cardiac patient health. Pulse employs cardiology ambulatory and billing support staff at CSC, allowing for specialized roles that foster career development and meet patient care needs, creating a supportive and valued environment for employees. This Monitor Technician role is within the Heart Rhythm/Device Department, where the individual will collaborate with the team lead and manager to ensure efficient patient flow for holter and event monitoring services. Key responsibilities include providing technical and administrative support, performing ECGs, and setting up holter/event monitors. A critical aspect of the role is the ability to identify cardiac dysrhythmias, conduct monitor scanning, editing, and prepare reports for provider review, significantly contributing to patient care and clinic operations. Requirements

  • Experience in device technology, monitor/telemetry, or Holter scanning, with a strong foundation in ECG interpretation.
  • Robust cardiac rhythm recognition abilities.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Holter/event monitor scanning, data analysis, editing, and report preparation for cardiologist review.
  • High School Diploma or GED, with at least six months of relevant experience or training.
  • Must demonstrate basic and advanced ECG recognition skills.
  • Prior device tech, monitor, or telemetry tech training is necessary.
  • Certification as a Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) is required within two years of hire.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Operating as a monitor technician, under supervision, for device monitoring tasks.
  • Hooking up patients to Holter/Event Monitors and instructing on their use.
  • Monitoring alerts from various cardiac monitors and notifying medical staff of abnormalities.
  • Scanning and reviewing monitor downloads for irregularities and creating reports for providers.
  • Documenting all patient interactions and relevant data in the EMR system.
  • Assisting with the billing process for monitoring services.
  • Managing monitor equipment inventory, maintenance, and staff training on device usage.
  • Supporting various clinic locations as needed and participating in educational programs.
