The Cardiac Cath Lab Radiological Technician works under the direction of the Adult Cardiac Catheterization & Electrophysiology Unit Director. This role is an integral part of the procedural team, providing comprehensive pre-, intra-, and post-procedural care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, structural heart, and vascular procedures. Key functions include operating radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment, ensuring high-quality image submission to PACS, and meticulous documentation in GE Mac-Lab/CardioLab systems, alongside troubleshooting imaging equipment. The technologist is expected to perform in both scrub and circulating capacities, offering direct assistance to physicians during procedures and supporting patient education within their professional scope. The position demands close collaboration with anesthesia and other patient care departments within the Cath/EP environment. Additional responsibilities encompass radiation safety oversight in conjunction with the UCSF Radiation Safety Officer, active participation in performance improvement initiatives, strict adherence to infection control and radiation safety policies, equipment troubleshooting in partnership with Biomedical Engineering, and inventory management coordinated with Materials Management. Furthermore, the technologist is responsible for assisting in the orientation and training of students and new staff, and for maintaining all necessary continuing education credits as per Medical Center and departmental policies.
