About The Position

The Card Operations team is responsible for all aspects of the UMB card programs. This includes customer loyalty programs, card fraud claims processing, card plastics design and inventory, collateral, card product and program set-up, card network relationships, etc. We are also responsible for ensuring the TSYS TS2 system is configured appropriately to support credit and debit card programs for UMB Consumer, Commercial and Healthcare lines of business. TSYS TS2 platform configuration includes option maintenance requests, service requests, project requests, UATV and production testing, research and remediation. Card Operations also supports TSYS issue management and cardholder complaints. As the Card Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting UMB Card Operations with responsibility for completing operational duties as assigned to ensure smooth and efficient execution of card support services. A primary responsibility of this role will be supporting the TSYS Loyalty Platform (TLP), ensuring system stability, operational accuracy, and effective program execution. You will also provide a high level of skill in the use of card processing systems, card processor applications and products. This also includes performing card system and application maintenance, managing TLP related tickets and inquiries, providing expertise and support for card program and product implementations, terminations and conversions. In addition, you will be responsible for performing monthly First Line of Defense (FLOD) control testing to support risk management, compliance, and operational governance. You will partner closely with Card Operations, Customer Support, Product, Risk Management and Compliance as well as external vendors to deliver high-quality platform support, maintain strong control environments, and drive continuous operational improvement. This is a subset of the overall responsibilities which will include multiple initiatives as assigned by IT leadership. This role is hybrid (Mon through Thu on-site / Fri remote) for candidates in the Kansas City metropolitan area and open to qualified remote candidates outside of the Kansas City area but only within the US.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems or related field OR equivalent work experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in financial services operations, card operation, or platform support specifically with TSYS.
  • Strong understanding of card operations and transaction processing systems.
  • Experience in banking and/or card payments.
  • Working knowledge of operational risk management and control frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • High attention to detail with strong documentation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Applicants must have legal authority to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • TSYS Loyalty Platform (TLP) Operations Support: Serve as primary operational support resource for the TSYS Loyalty Platform (TLP). Support loyalty program research, monitoring, ticket inquiries and projects. Monitor daily platform activity to ensure transaction accuracy, data integrity, and system performance. Troubleshoot platform issues and coordinate resolution with TSYS and internal technology partners. Perform testing and validation for system enhancements, configuration changes, and vendor releases. Maintain platform documentation, workflows, and operational procedures. Support implementation of new loyalty programs, product enhancements, and platform updates.
  • First Line of Defense (FLOD) Control Responsibilities: Execute monthly First Line of Defense (FLOD) control testing in accordance with risk and compliance requirements. Perform assigned operational control procedures and validate adherence to policies and regulatory standards. Document testing results, evidence, and remediation actions. Identify operational risks, control gaps, and process deficiencies and escalate appropriately. Support regulatory exams, audits, and internal reviews by providing documentation and operational insights.
  • Operational Analysis & Process Improvement Analyze operational data, reports, and trends to identify performance issues and improvement opportunities. Develop operational reporting and dashboards for leadership and stakeholders. Provide support services and administration of the UMB debit and credit card programs including but not limited to loyalty programs, terms and pricing, card features/benefits, payment processing, etc. Participate in cross-functional projects related to platform migrations, enhancements, and operational improvements. Perform root cause analysis on platform and operational issues and assist with corrective action planning.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication Serve as liaison between business teams, technology partners, vendors, and risk stakeholders. Communicate operational issues, platform updates, and control findings clearly and professionally. Support internal training and knowledge sharing related to TLP platform processes and controls.
