PRIMARY SUMMARY: Lays out and plans sequence of operations for fabrication and assembly of carbide dies. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans the sequence of operations, fabrication assembly and layout of all types and sizes of carbide dies from tool drawings, written and verbal instructions. Lays out, sets up and fabricates all sizes of dies of irregular contours using tool room equipment such as engine lathes, surface grinders, O.D. grinder, tool and cutter grinder honing machines. Makes carbide reamers or diamond materials and steel configuration laps for cutting and machining dies to tolerance of .0001/.0002. Checks own work using comparator, inside hole gauges, test pins and other inspection equipment. Able to recognize cosmetic non-conformances based on Company specifications such as; burrs, galling, cracked edges, slug marks, dimensional changes in production parts and initiate action to prevent non-conformance such as stopping the machine and notifying Supervisor. Follow all 5S department procedures which include but are not limited to; keeping floors clean of oil and debris, returning tools to proper locations, organize part pans, and performs other housekeeping duties. Attends all required job related training (internal and external). Attends all required daily GAP meetings as required.
