Apply today and let’s make this season unforgettable! ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Interpret and enforce all program-specific rules and adaptations. Supervise and control conduct at program sites in a safe and professional manner. Attend all program dates as scheduled. Assist in the recommendation and evaluation of improvements to programs that will provide maximum enjoyment for all the participants. Provide excellent customer service. Preps fields or program area for play if necessary. Is visible and available to staff, participants, and fans to answer questions. listens to concerns, resolves problems, and corrects inappropriate behavior. Communicate any issues to Recreation Coordinator. Assists with ensuring the safety of participants, maintains discipline, makes weather-based decisions, and assists with handling complaints from the public. Performs first aid as required, depending on training and certification. Complies with District and industry related safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure the safety of self, co-workers, park users and the community. May operate and maintain specialized equipment and tools as listed below under “Tools and Equipment Used”. Effective, tactful verbal and written communication skills. Fulfills alternate duties and responsibilities as required or assigned by the Coordinator. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must be 18 years of age or older. Practical experience in track and field, athletics, recreation, physical education, or related field. NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Independently lead and manage a track program by creating structured practice plans, coordinating competitive events, and fulfilling coaching duties in alignment with the work schedule. Must be able to work evenings and weekends. Use equipment and tools properly and safely. Understand, follow, and transmit written and verbal instructions. Establish effective working relationships with program participants, coworkers, supervisors, and the public. Represent the District in a professional manner, exemplifying integrity and excellence always. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the general guidance and direction of the Recreation Coordinator. SUPERVISION EXERCISED Supervises participants during practices and competitions, and may support supervision of spectators, and volunteers. WORK SCHEDULE This is a seasonal part-time position generally working afternoons, evenings and weekends. Schedules may vary depending on weather conditions, projects, events and programs. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED Phone/cell phone, automobile, and various sports equipment are used in track and field.
