About The Position

Under direction of the Head Track and Field/Cross Country Coach, the incumbent will be responsible to recruit quality student-athletes (with an emphasis in distance, jumps, throws, and sprints events) within the guidelines of the Code of Recruitment as required by the Head Coach; coach student-athletes in practice and competition; monitor the conditioning and training of the student-athletes; teach and develop sport specific skills and coaching strategies to enhance the athletic performance of student-athletes; assist in the success of team performance and eligibility criteria; organize and direct local, regional and/or national meets as required; conduct summer camps and track/field clinics; enforce written team rules and expectations including while traveling and on and off campus conduct; comply with NCAA, Conference and University rules and policies; assist in the monitoring and maintenance of academic progress and eligibility of team members, and in the coordination of team travel as needed; if applicable, prepare data and reports as necessary in support of NCAA, Conference and University rules compliance; assist in the promotion of fund raising activities; assist in Title IX and diversity outreach.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and policies
  • Strong communication and motivation skills
  • Coaching philosophy and teaching concepts must be compatible with those of the Head Coach
  • Ability to work cooperatively with coaches, staff, faculty, students, and members of the community
  • Commitment to academic integrity and compliance with University, conference and NCAA regulations
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution
  • Minimum of two years coaching experience at D-I, D-II or JC Level within Track & Field and Cross Country
