About The Position

Brown & Brown Risk Solutions, formerly Beecher Carlson, is seeking a Captive Consultant to join our National Captive Practice. The Captive Consultant will work closely with senior consultants, captive managers, actuaries, auditors, brokers and other client risk leaders to deliver high‑quality consulting and financial outputs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Client Support & Consulting Delivery Support senior captive consultants and managing directors in servicing existing captive clients, including preparation of financial analyses, presentations, and client deliverables. Participate in client meetings, calls, and presentations, with increasing responsibility over time for discrete workstreams and client interaction. Assist in assessing client risk profiles and alternative risk financing strategies, including captive feasibility and optimization opportunities. Captive Financial & Analytical Responsibilities Prepare and support captive feasibility studies, including financial modeling, funding analyses, and scenario evaluation. Review and interpret captive financial statements prepared by Brown & Brown, external actuaries, and auditors. Assist with premium cash flow analysis, loss run evaluation, reinsurance structures, and capital adequacy considerations. Maintain accuracy and organization of financial models, working papers, and supporting documentation for senior‑level review. Regulatory, Domicile, and Governance Support Support research and analysis of captive domicile requirements, regulatory frameworks, and governance structures across U.S. and offshore domiciles. Assist with preparation for regulatory filings, audits, and examinations, under the direction of senior team members. Develop working knowledge of major U.S. domiciles and offshore domiciles, with exposure to additional international jurisdictions over time. Insurance & Risk Education Develop an understanding of large‑account insurance programs across multiple lines of business and industries. Build foundational knowledge of insurance brokerage operations and how captives integrate into broader risk and insurance programs. Provide internal and external education on captive insurance concepts as appropriate to experience level. Business Development & Practice Support Support new business initiatives, including preparation of prospect materials, pitch decks, and support for proposals. Assist in identifying opportunities to expand or enhance existing captive programs. Actively participate in training, mentorship, and professional development activities to build captive and alternative risk expertise. Other Responsibilities Collaborate effectively with internal teams, including actuaries, auditors, account managers, and producers. Manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast‑paced consulting environment. Perform other duties as assigned to support the captive practice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, risk management, insurance, or a related field.
  • 1–5 years of experience working with captive insurance programs, alternative risk financing, insurance consulting, or a related financial or risk discipline.
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort working with financial data and Excel‑based models.
  • Ability to interpret financial statements and actuarial or insurance‑related reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines in a consulting environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and ability to work at a computer and participate in calls or virtual meetings during standard business hours.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA designation or progress toward CPA; other relevant credentials (e.g., ACI, ARM, CPCU) are a plus.
  • Prior exposure to captive domicile regulations, insurance accounting, or regulatory filings.
  • Experience supporting client‑facing consulting engagements or complex financial analyses.
