About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Captive Insurance Consultant to lead the development and formation of captive insurance companies for our clients. This individual will play a critical role in guiding clients through the entire captive creation lifecycle — from initial consultation and feasibility analysis to regulatory submission and approval. This is a high-impact role requiring strong technical expertise, client-facing skills, creativity in captive structuring, and exceptional organizational abilities.

Requirements

  • 5–10+ years experience in: o Captive insurance consulting o Captive management o Risk financing or alternative risk transfer
  • Demonstrated experience forming captives from inception to licensing.
  • Strong understanding of captive domiciles and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience working directly with regulators.
  • Strategic & Creative Thinking Ability to design innovative captive solutions aligned with client objectives.
  • Client Leadership Strong presence and confidence when advising executives and stakeholders.
  • Independence & Drive Self-starter who thrives with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional Organization Able to manage complex projects with multiple moving documents and deadlines.
  • Communication Skills Strong written and verbal communication, particularly in regulatory contexts.

Responsibilities

  • Meet directly with prospective and existing clients to understand risk management goals and strategic objectives.
  • Assess client needs and identify appropriate captive insurance solutions.
  • Design creative captive structures tailored to each client’s unique risk profile and business strategy.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor throughout the captive development process.
  • Lead the end-to-end formation process of captive insurance companies.
  • Develop and oversee preparation of: o Feasibility studies o Business plans o Financial projections o Ownership structures o Governance frameworks o Organizational documents and by-laws
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners (actuaries, legal counsel, tax advisors, auditors).
  • Interface directly with insurance regulators across multiple domiciles.
  • Prepare and submit licensing applications and supporting documentation.
  • Manage regulator communications and respond to inquiries throughout the review process.
  • Ensure compliance with domicile requirements and industry standards.
  • Manage multiple captive formation projects simultaneously.
  • Maintain detailed organization of documentation, timelines, and stakeholder communications.
  • Ensure projects remain on schedule and meet quality standards.
  • Oversee programs and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Execute annual required reserve study and any other annual requirements from regulators or clients.
