About The Position

Captive Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the accounting operations of multiple captive insurance entities. This role involves preparing monthly financial statements, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in accounting software. Your Impact: Maintain monthly financial records for several captive insurance entities. Record and reconcile bank transactions monthly. Analyze investment account statements, enter transactions, and reconcile accounts monthly. Prepare and post monthly journal entries. Maintain client-specific claim funds ledger. Coordinate premium and claim reporting between fronting carriers and third-party administrators. Generate monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Assist with preparation of 1099 forms and annual reports. Calculate surplus to determine availability for alternative investments and dividends. Prepare bank transaction listings and investment calculations for available funds. Respond promptly to audit and regulatory examination requests. Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience (insurance or captive experience preferred)
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and general ledger functions
  • Experience with financial statement preparation and reconciliation processes
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
