Capitol Custodian – Evening Shift

About The Position

The General Services Division is seeking an energetic, service-oriented individual to join their custodial team that is responsible for cleaning the Capitol building and a few other small buildings. You would perform a variety of tasks such as cleaning floors and restrooms, washing walls and glass, removing rubbish, performing routine upkeep activities, event set-up and clean-up and notifying management when repairs are needed. You would respond to emergencies involving the clean-up of potential biohazards and food/beverage spills. The Capitol building is a historic treasure containing ornate art and classical architecture which requires unique techniques and strategies for cleaning and maintenance. You would be responsible for ensuring proper cleaning methods and techniques are followed and used for a variety of situations and applications. The shift available – Monday through Friday from 1pm to 9:30pm outside of Legislative Session (January through April of odd number years). During Legislative session the shift is from 3:00pm to 11:30pm.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service
  • Operate cleaning machinery, equipment, tools and utilize all custodial supplies
  • Work collaboratively with a variety of people, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members and customers
  • Handle chemical cleaning agents in a prescribed and safe manner
  • Maintain a positive and pleasant attitude
  • Capable of performing successfully in a dynamic environment
  • Operate a computer to perform data entry such as timekeeping and e-mail
  • Recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions
  • Attention to detail in work processes and equipment operations
  • Self-motivated, able to take on work as assigned or as required by a given circumstance
  • Drive in all Montana weather conditions
