About The Position

The Workplace team are accountable for managing the end-to-end property lifecycle for bp’s corporate office portfolio. Operating in 50 plus countries and over 100 diverse locations the team are central to the transformation of the workplace experience and the associated services. The regional Capital Projects Lead is part of the Workplace organisation, reporting directly into the Senior Manager Capital Projects and Design. This role serves as the senior technical expert and end-to-end process owner for the integrated delivery of capital projects in the region. Responsible and accountable to ensure projects are delivered safely on time, within budget, and to a high-quality standard. Provide strategic expertise, market and industry insights across the office and portfolios, aligning with bp’s business objectives. Assess and provide guidance on the regional procurement delivery route for projects and actively contribute to the region’s real estate strategy and project pipeline. Manage internal and external providers to deliver value and best practices, ensuring successful project delivery through compliance with robust governance and assurance processes, and effective risk management.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), master’s degree preferred in one of the following fields: Project Management, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or related field
  • Relevant professional qualification (PMP or APM) or appropriate experience
  • Experience delivering capital projects across multiple countries and cultures, with a track record of managing budgets ranging from USD $50,000 to $250 million.
  • Proven experience in a similar client-side role within a matrix Workplace organisation, with global exposure and strong cultural awareness.
  • Strong technical knowledge of construction industry standards, building codes and best-in-class practices, with the ability to apply them across diverse project contexts.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate dispersed, independent teams, including effective delegation to regional and country-level delivery teams, and reporting into central teams.
  • Strong collaborator engagement and communication skills, with the ability to build trust, influence senior leadership, and navigate complex organizational inter-connectivity.
  • Expertise in managing third-party vendors and suppliers globally, including contract negotiation and application of methodologies such as Vested.
  • Advanced financial and commercial skill, including investment analysis, financial modeling (DCF, IRR, NPV), and budget oversight.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving capability, with a track record of driving continuous improvement across delivery platforms, tools, and systems.
  • Deep understanding of governance structures, risk management, and compliance requirements in real estate decision-making, with the ability to anticipate and resolve challenges proactively.

  • Professional certifications Member of RICS (MRICS) or Fellow of RICS (FRICS) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Is the regional subject matter expert to senior leadership, shaping capital project decisions and delivery to drive financial and non-financial value that meets business goals.
  • Ensure safe, timely, and on budget delivery of capital projects that meet bp policies, Workplace, Procurement, Legal, Technology and Security guidelines to enhance workplace environments.
  • Coordinate with internal partners and direct external collaborators to promote collaboration and deliver high-quality projects, leveraging industry best practices and fostering long-term supplier value.
  • Provide financial oversight including budget planning, forecasting, and performance tracking to support AtN/EFM and capital frame alignment.
  • Develop cross-functional collaboration and provide required updates to leadership and GPMO, proactively identifying and mitigating risks across the project lifecycle.
  • Uphold governance, assurance, and compliance standards, ensuring adherence to bp’s operating procedures, risk protocols, and HSSE requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement by enhancing project delivery tools, standards, and lessons learned to ensure consistency and excellence across the portfolio.
