About The Position

The Capital Projects Engineer for LCN is a newly formed role within the Capital Projects & Automation department where you will manage several large-scale Capital Projects. Expectations of this role include competency of the items listed below with guidance from the Capital Projects Manager. Typically, project responsibilities will be focused on the execution of large-scale projects with budgets in excess of 1 million dollars. Sound engineering fundamentals are required, and advanced process & manufacturing engineering concept development and implementation are expected. The ability to manage vended solutions as well as custom in-house equipment designs is required. Full solution implementation is required from concept, to design, to project management, through execution and sustainment with minor coaching. This role is expected to lead multiple expansive projects at once. Knowledge of manufacturing methods, Total Productive Maintenance, emerging technologies, process controls, automation and Manufacturing facilities are also recommended as no project is out of scope. Q ualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant & demonstrated experience within capital projects
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related degree required.
  • Performs work under general supervision.
  • Collaborate well with all levels of the organization.
  • Possess both project management & project engineering skillsets.
  • Handle moderately complex issues and problems.
  • Possess solid working knowledge of project planning, management, and execution.
  • Knowledge of PTC Creo and execution from design through fabrication, whether sourced or fabricated in-house
  • Competent design of physical plant layouts and proficiency with AutoCAD
  • Willingness to travel based on project needs and vendor locations, primary location is on-site at LCN

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Capital Projects Manager, who is responsible for managing the site’s Capital budget
  • Manage several large-scale capital projects at one time in accordance with the site’s Annual Operating Plan (AOP)
  • Coordinate the work activities for multiple functions to ensure project success
  • Collaborate with all levels of the organization and support the teams of your peers (Process Engineers, Quality Engineers, Operational Excellence, Controls Engineers, Maintenance personnel, etc.)
  • Design manufacturing processes, equipment, and integrated solutions while understanding and working through production impacts upon implementation
  • Manage project financials including budget generation, spend forecasts, ROI evaluations, etc.
  • Partner heavily with maintenance personnel and contractors to facilitate equipment installation & commissioning
  • Ensure all requirements & deliverables defined within scoping documents and equipment agreements are met on-time & under budget
  • Assess new opportunities for benefits and coordinate with the management on placement in the LRP (Long Range Plan)
  • Responsible for all aspects of the project lifecycle: planning, scope definition, design, execution, and delivery.
  • Tracks progress against milestones, budgetary guidelines, or other performance indicators, and prepares reports to senior management.
  • Partner with Quality Engineers & Technicians to execute Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for new equipment.
  • Establish robust equipment maintenance schedules & procedures to ensure machine longevity in alignment with plant Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) initiatives.
  • Assists with the selection, negotiation, and managing of all activities regarding external consultants or vendors.
  • Partner with the Corporate Purchasing team to draft effective contracts with suppliers to protect the business
  • Prepares and presents capital requests for new projects
  • Track progress of existing / completed projects to ensure deliverables are met
  • Present progress updates to Plant and Corporate leadership
