About The Position

The Capital Projects Accountant will support the financial execution and integrity of Boston Legacy FC’s major facility build-outs and operations. This is a hands-on, detail-driven role responsible for construction accounts payable, capital project accounting, and financial controls across complex, multi-vendor developments. You will work closely with the Controller, external vendors, construction partners, and internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy, discipline, and transparency across large-scale capital projects. This role is ideal for an accountant who thrives in structured complexity, understands construction financial workflows, and wants exposure to meaningful, high-impact projects early in their career.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2–5 years of accounting experience, with exposure to construction accounting, capital projects, or large-scale AP strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of construction AP, project cost tracking, and capital expenditure accounting
  • Experience using Yardi, Intacct, and Ramp
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and complex documentation
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and Excel; experience with construction accounting software a plus
  • Clear communicator who is comfortable working across internal teams and external partners
  • High integrity and strong ownership mindset—this work matters

Responsibilities

  • Track capital expenditures across multiple large-scale projects, ensuring proper capitalization and cost classification
  • Maintain detailed project cost reports, budget-to-actual analyses, and variance tracking
  • Support month-end close related to construction and fixed assets, including accruals and reconciliations
  • Process high-volume, high-value construction AP, including invoices, lien waivers, pay applications, and vendor compliance documentation
  • Review and validate invoices against contracts, purchase orders, budgets, and approved change orders
  • Manage payment schedules and ensure timely, accurate disbursements aligned with project milestones
  • Monthly reconciliations as needed by the Finance team, including Construction in Progress, Cash, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
  • Assistance with the monthly close as needed including research and journal entries.
  • Maintaining systems, and creating efficiencies within the monthly close process
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, approval workflows, and documentation standards
  • Maintain organized audit-ready records for construction and capital expenditures
  • Partner with external accountants, auditors, and advisors as needed
  • Coordinate closely with Finance, Operations, Legal, and external construction partners
  • Support financial reporting and ad-hoc analysis for senior leadership and ownership
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of construction accounting processes and systems
