The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. In this position you will work in person at least 3 days per week with 2 days remote (depending on project and work requirements). Frequent visits to project sites around the City are required. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days. For information about Denver Arts & Venues Denver Public Art, visit our websites at http://www.artsandvenuesdenver.com and www.DenverPublicArt.org The Capital Project Manager supports Denver Arts & Venues in ensuring the long-term operational readiness, sustainability, and improvement of its portfolio of world-renowned, city-owned facilities. This role plays a key part in planning for anticipated and unforeseen capital repairs, maintenance, replacements, renovations, and future asset acquisitions.

Requirements

• Experience managing capital improvement or commercial development projects involving multiple stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of project budgeting, scheduling, contract administration, and risk management.
• Analyze complex project data and apply sound judgment to planning and resource allocation decisions.
• Proven ability to influence, negotiate, and collaborate across diverse teams and leadership levels.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail and a strong results-oriented mindset.
• Strategic thinking and the ability to anticipate long-term operational and infrastructure needs.
• A proactive and strategic project management professional who thrives in complex, highly visible environments.
• An understanding of the importance of stewarding public assets responsibly and balancing operational needs with long-term capital planning.
• A collaborative leadership style and are comfortable coordinating consultants, contractors, technical experts, and internal stakeholders
• Comfortable navigating evolving priorities and ensuring projects remain aligned with agency goals, sustainability efforts, and fiscal responsibility.
• Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Project Management, Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or a related field.
• Experience Requirement: Two (2) years of professional project management experience in the related occupational group including coordinating, administering, and monitoring projects.
• Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.
• Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage, coordinate, and direct complex, multi-disciplinary capital improvement, development, and redevelopment projects across the agency’s facility portfolio.
• Develop and oversee project plans, scopes of work, timelines, budgets, funding limitations, and resource allocations in collaboration with the Capital and Sustainability team.
• Monitor project schedules, cost estimates, and performance to ensure conformance with approved plans, contract specifications, and quality standards.
• Coordinate and matrix-manage consultants, contractors, and project team members to ensure project milestones and deliverables are met.
• Oversee change management processes and quality assurance measures to support successful project outcomes.
• Partner with the Capital Program Manager to effectively utilize project management software and planning tools to support capital forecasting and decision-making.
• Develop and execute stakeholder communication plans, providing regular updates on project status, risks, mitigation strategies, and key milestones.
