About The Position

Co-op / Interns represent college students seeking to gain professional work experience while pursuing an undergraduate degree. Under direct supervision, the Capital Intern will perform a variety of tasks. This internship provides hands-on learning experience and exposure to real-world projects that align with the company’s mission and growth strategies. What makes the Ho-Chunk Capital internship unique is its pathway-based structure. Interns select a career pathway aligned with their future professional goals such as investment advisory, real estate brokerage, auto sales, home building, project management, land development, operations, or property management and are placed within the corresponding entity or department. Interns gain focused, in-depth experience within their chosen pathway, allowing them to develop relevant skills, industry knowledge, and professional competencies. Through direct mentorship and meaningful project involvement, interns receive targeted exposure that supports long-term career development within Ho-Chunk Capital’s expansive portfolio.

  • Completed at least one full semester of college coursework in an undergraduate or graduate program
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5

Responsibilities

  • Understand the overall mission, values, and structure of the company, including its customer base, service goals, and long-term vision
  • Rotate through key business units and functions to gain a broader perspective and provide recommendations to support process improvements
  • Accept business-focused assignments to research, analyze, and present actionable solutions
  • Contribute suggestions for improving internal systems, documentation, and workflows
  • Learn and apply internal standard operating procedures and software systems
  • Assist in the creation of performance reports and project documentation
  • Deliver a final presentation summarizing internship goals, learning outcomes, and proposed initiatives
  • Support capital and construction projects from planning through completion
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure timely and quality execution
  • Participate in site visits to observe progress and identify issues or opportunities
  • Assist with developing project timelines, budgets, and resource plans
  • Coordinate project meetings, document key decisions, and track deliverables
  • Maintain accurate project records and update documentation systems as needed
  • Assist in preparing reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
  • The intern will be responsible for completing all tasks outlined in their summer project plans assigned by managers.
  • Interns must participate in all mandatory internship programming, evaluation periods and professional development sessions.
  • Attending sessions remotely will be determined and approved by program manager.

  • Intern employees are categorized as seasonal full-time employees and will accrue one hour of paid sick time for every 30 hours worked.
  • Accrual begins after 80 hours of consecutive employment in Nebraska.
  • Lodging, transportation, and other travel expenses are provided.
