About The Position

The primary objective of this position is to oversee the day to day operations of the college store. The college store offers apparel, spirit gear, supplies, and commencement items, for sale. The College Store Manager also serves as the liaison between the college and the bookstore partner to manage the colleges' virtual bookstore. The position is a full-time exempt with occasional nights and weekends during priority events such as student move-in, commencement, etc. Reporting to the AVP of Finance and Administration, the College Store Manager provides leadership to the college store.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Inventory planning, buying, and control
  • Ability to lift 25 to 50 lbs

Responsibilities

  • Achieving budgeted financial targets for revenue and expenses and growing the business to specified targets
  • Building positive and responsive relationships with the campus community, including students, administration, athletics, faculty, and staff
  • Creating and executing detailed store operating plans
  • Managing inventory: buying, purchasing, and control, pricing within established guidelines, and managing markdown procedure
  • Providing exemplary customer service and directly assisting customers
  • Operating the point of sale system and processing sales
  • Hiring, scheduling, supervising, and training student staff
  • Executing the store's marketing and social media efforts
  • Merchandising following established guidelines
  • Monitoring, analyzing and reporting on sales data
  • Working with the college bookstore partner to ensure that textbooks are available to students through the college's virtual bookstore
  • Promoting bookstore to students
  • Managing the online e-commerce store.
