About The Position

Join Hillel UGA as our next Campus Rabbi to help shape a vibrant, welcoming, and dynamic Jewish community at the University of Georgia. As a Jewish leader on campus, you will build meaningful relationships with students, foster spiritual connection, and bring Jewish life to the forefront through creativity, authenticity, and care. The Campus Rabbi will play a central role in cultivating a pluralistic Jewish environment where students feel empowered to explore and express their Jewish identities. You will support students in celebrating Shabbat and holidays, create accessible and engaging opportunities for Jewish learning, and provide pastoral care and guidance. Working closely with a dedicated team, you will help deepen student engagement and expand the ways Jewish life shows up across campus. This position would report to the Associate Director at Hillel UGA. Hillel UGA is part of Hillels of Georgia, connecting 10+ campuses across the state through programming, leadership development, and professional growth. Our vision is to inspire every student to proudly embrace their Jewish journey and build a lasting connection to Jewish life and Israel.

Requirements

  • Rabbinic ordination (or equivalent experience in Jewish spiritual leadership).
  • Experience in community building, outreach, and experiential Jewish education (campus work, youth movements, camps, etc.).
  • A demonstrated ability to engage students in meaningful conversations about Judaism, identity, and Israel in an open and approachable way.
  • A passion for building inclusive, pluralistic Jewish community.
  • Creativity, initiative, and an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, Shabbat, weekends, and holidays as part of campus life.

Responsibilities

  • Shape and implement a vision for ritual, spirituality, and Jewish learning at Hillel UGA.
  • Build deep, authentic relationships with students from diverse backgrounds through one-on-one conversations and shared experiences.
  • Cultivate a culture of meaningful Jewish practice, including dynamic and accessible Shabbat and holiday experiences.
  • Lead and grow the Jewish Learning Fellowship (JLF), creating engaging, relevant, and thoughtful learning experiences for a wide range of students in partnership with other Hillel UGA staff.
  • Develop new and creative opportunities for students to explore Jewish ideas, traditions, and values.
  • Partner with campus colleagues and student leaders to expand Jewish life and advocate for Jewish students across the UGA community.
  • Facilitate both formal and informal Jewish learning rooted in text, tradition, and contemporary relevance.
  • Provide pastoral care and serve as a trusted mentor and resource for students, staff, and lay leaders.
