About The Position

The Davidson College Campus Police Department is seeking a dedicated and professional Part-Time Police Officer to serve the community during scheduled night shifts. This officer will work every other Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night from 3:00 PM to 3:00 AM, providing law enforcement presence, emergency response, and public safety services. This role is ideal for certified officers seeking part-time employment or retired officers looking to stay active in law enforcement.

Requirements

Must be a certified law enforcement officer in North Carolina.
Prior experience as a police officer preferred.
Must pass a background investigation, drug screening, and medical evaluation.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Ability to work independently with sound judgment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be able to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays as scheduled.

Responsibilities

Patrol assigned areas to prevent and detect criminal activity.
Respond to emergency calls, accidents, disturbances, and other incidents.
Conduct traffic stops and issue citations or warnings as appropriate.
Investigate crimes, interview witnesses, collect evidence, and write detailed reports.
Make arrests and transport individuals to detention facilities as needed.
Assist in crowd control and maintain public order during special events or disturbances.
Provide backup support to full-time officers and other emergency personnel.
Perform wellness checks and provide community assistance where appropriate.
Maintain accurate logs, records, and reports during the shift.
Uphold department policies, procedures, and ethical standards at all times.
