Incumbent is a sworn commissioned officer responsible for enforcement of tribal and applicable laws to protect life and property on a 24-hour on-call status. Incumbent enforces an assortment of laws, regulations, and ordinances relative to criminal, traffic, civil, and natural resources. Incumbent realizes work involves, at times, an element of personal danger during confrontations with violators, and requires exercise of independent judgment and discretion during emergencies. The incumbent is required to prepare reports, citations, statistical data and logs; appear in court; conduct investigations; make arrests; patrol within the boundaries of the Yakama Reservation; reservation sites; in-lieu sites and ceded areas.
