Campus Peace Officer Full-Time HV-UPSEU-8560 In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. Must be either a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident of the United States. RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must have been legal residents of New York State for at least FOUR months immediately preceding the date of the test. Pursuant to subdivision 4a of Sec. 23 of the Civil Service Law, preference may be given to successful candidates who have been legal residents of the municipality to which the appointment is to be made for at least FOUR months preceding the date of the written test. Applicants must have good knowledge of New York State laws; good knowledge of the rules and regulations of the college Public Safety Office; good knowledge of safety issues; ability to carry out oral and written directions; ability to deal effectively with people; ability to act quickly in an emergency situation; initiative; good judgment; mental alertness; tact and courtesy; good physical condition. (a) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science or closely related field and one (1) year of experience in a law enforcement agency or security /safety force; or (b) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State college or university with an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science or closely related field and three (3) years of experience in a law enforcement agency or security /safety force; or (c) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and either: a) Five (5) years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience as a Municipal Police Trained Police Officer; or (d) Five (5) years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in a law enforcement agency or security /safety force. (e) Candidates must have twenty-four (24) hours of New York State Security Guard License courses completed prior to assignments The duties involve the responsibility of public safety on the college campus.
