About The Position

The role of the Campus Pastor is to oversee the life and direction of the campus under the direction and leadership of the Central Leadership Team. This will require a firm grasp of the beliefs, values and strategy of Church of the Open Door and the ability to align staff and key leadership teams with its mission, vision and values. The Campus Pastor will offer pastoral leadership to the campus. He will also ensure that the systems, practices and policies of the church responsibly and effectively support its ministry activities.

Requirements

  • An evident heart and love for God that permeates life and ministry.
  • The qualifications of an elder as defined in I Timothy 3/Titus 1.
  • Someone with a distinct call to Pastoral ministry with a heart to shepherd and lead a campus to its fullest potential.
  • A high-capacity leader who not only gets things done, but makes things happen.
  • A team player who can lead people and also work under the authority of the Central Leadership Team.
  • Must love people and is able to attract people to the mission of the church.
  • Must be able to show a high capacity to juggle many responsibilities and see them to full completion.
  • Able to communicate and carry the DNA of the senior leadership and board to the site.
  • A heart to devote the necessary time to personal development and spiritual growth to fulfill his role as a spiritual leader to the body at COD.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the best ministry practices and DNA of COD are transferred to the campus and incorporated into the life and ministry of the campus.
  • Shepherd the local congregation, including the counseling of church members when the need arises or referring the church member to appropriate sources of counseling when unable to provide it on a direct basis. In this role, develop a comprehensive program for visitation of the sick and shut-ins of the church and ensuring that members are visited and cared for in their time of need.
  • Administer the ordinances of the church, overseeing the interviewing and evaluation of new believers for baptism.
  • Serve as the champion for the ministries at the campus, and work with the Central Leadership Team to identify, promote, and oversee appropriate new ministries at the campus.
  • Oversee Guest Services Team and Next Steps to ensure a warm welcome to campus visitors and clarity regarding a path to assimilation and deeper engagement for those who consider the campus of COD their church body.
  • Oversee, or provide oversight for, all regular worship services at the campus.
  • Lead regular campus staff meetings, and provide vision, support guidance and leadership of campus staff in the execution of their duties and responsibilities, helping them to grow in their professional roles, both spiritually and in their professional responsibilities. In this role, the Campus Pastor will provide development opportunities for the campus staff over and above their regularly assigned responsibilities, through special assignments and projects and/or placing the staff in positions of expanded responsibility, leading the church family in more than just their primary area of responsibility.
  • Provide oversight of campus local outreach efforts, and initiate and facilitate efforts to serve, enrich and reach the surrounding community.
  • Promote the church-wide global outreach efforts at the campus and engage with the global outreach team to help to achieve COD’s global outreach strategy and vision.
  • Implement COD’s systems for all ministries at the campus.
  • Identify, recruit and develop key ministry leaders.
  • Provide leadership, input, and support to church-wide initiatives as needed.
  • Attend all necessary leadership meetings/functions as needed for effective ministry transfer and cooperation.
  • Function as a part of the whole on a large staff to encourage, support, and shepherd the global body of COD as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
