About The Position

This position provides spiritual leadership and pastoral care for program participants through intentional discipleship, accountability, and support. This role oversees and coordinates hands-on ministry experiences across various areas of the church, ensuring residents receive well-rounded, practical training. The Residency Pastor is responsible for coaching and developing emerging leaders through consistent feedback, mentoring, and leadership development opportunities. Additionally, this role establishes and maintains a clear pathway for residents to transition into full-time ministry and guides each individual in discerning their calling and next placement, whether within the church or sent out to serve elsewhere.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing spiritual leadership and pastoral care for residents through discipleship, accountability, and personal support.
  • Lead and oversee the residency program, ensuring a structured and meaningful development experience.
  • Coordinate and manage residents’ hands-on ministry assignments across various church departments.
  • Coach and develop residents through regular one-on-one meetings, feedback, and mentoring.
  • Evaluate resident growth and provide clear, constructive performance feedback.
  • Design and implement leadership development opportunities, including training, reading plans, and practical experiences.
  • Create and maintain a clear pathway for residents to move toward full-time ministry roles.
  • Help residents discern their calling, gifting, and future ministry placement.
  • Collaborate with ministry leaders to ensure alignment and effective integration of residents into church life.
  • Track progress and maintain documentation related to each resident’s development and goals
  • Participate in annual evaluations
  • Other tasks as assigned
