About The Position

The Campus Ministry Pastoral Associate is a proactive, Christ-centered practicing Catholic who will work to support the vision of the Director of Mission by playing a key support role in campus liturgies, retreats, student ministry events, community celebrations, and Christian service opportunities. In collaboration with the Director of Mission, the Campus Ministry Pastoral Associate is responsible for the efficient functioning of the department and its spiritual support of students, faculty, staff, and families.

Requirements

  • Excellent pastoral skills demonstrated caring for students.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, different ability, and ethnic backgrounds of high school students.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, initiative, and function effectively under pressure.
  • High quality skills in drafting memoranda, correspondence, email, newsletters, and flyers.
  • Ability to proofread, edit, and format documents.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge in computer applications such as: Google Suite, MS Office, Adobe products, Apple and other music streaming services, and various social media platforms.
  • Must be an active, practicing Catholic.
  • Received or is able to receive Safe Environment Training VIRTUS.
  • High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in ministry or related field preferred.
  • Completed or in progress Basic Certification in Theology or Catechesis from the Diocese.
  • Must be fully initiated into the Catholic Church and nourishes his/her faith through ongoing spiritual formation and prayer, and publicly adheres to the Church teachings.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in campus or parish ministry is preferred, experience with high school aged students in an academic setting is a plus.
  • Experience in a support or administrative role required, including experience working with Google Suite and database work.
  • A desire to work with underserved youth is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative support for effective retreat operation, including the creation and processing of online student registrations, tracking financial aid, processing online payments, scheduling transportation, creating rosters, and communicating with parents.
  • Creates the playlists and songbooks for the Retreat Program, coordinates retreat reunion events, and memorializes retreats with photos.
  • Coordinates the yearly-grade retreats with the leadership team, and assists with logistics and chaperones the students on the retreat day.
  • Attends and assists with ministry events, including family liturgies, retreats, service opportunities, and community celebrations.
  • Represents and promotes the goals of Campus Ministry at family events such as Back-to-School, Open House, and Parent Information Nights.
  • Coordinates and assists with on-campus events.
  • Assists with supervision of the students as assigned through Corporate Work Study Program and volunteers.
  • Exhibits a ministry of presence by supporting students both in school and in extracurricular activities including, but not limited to, athletic games, performances, and school dances.
  • Provides administrative support to the department, including the management of program supplies and facility needs.
  • Provides Campus Ministry information for various internal and external publications such as homeroom announcements, the Principal’s Newsletter, the school web page, and social media postings.
  • Creates promotional materials for Campus Ministry programs.
  • Provides pastoral support for Social Justice and Human Dignity programs and activities.
  • Provides administrative support for service trips, including the creation of online application forms and the processing of applications and reports.
  • Files and maintains annual student service records.
  • Assists with keeping the service app (MobileServe) up to date.
  • Monitors students in the Campus Ministry space.
  • Coordinates Christian Leaders Program and provides opportunities for student leadership and discipleship through faith experiences.
  • Draws students to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community.
  • Builds relationships with the students, evangelizing and empowering them as young disciples, and fosters the personal and spiritual growth of the students.
  • Actively participates on the Liturgy Students Team.
  • Assists with recruiting students, faculty and staff for Liturgy and Prayer Services.
  • Creates PowerPoint presentations for the school-wide liturgies and prayer services.
  • Organizes and communicates with the Priest/Chaplain for school-wide Church availability for Masses, Prayer Services, Rosaries, Adoration, and prayer.
  • May require additional hours or working a flexible schedule to accommodate weekend and night events.
  • Other duties may be required as needed.
