About The Position

The Campus Athletic Coordinator for Athletics will advise, coordinate, supervise, and support a staff of high school head, assistant, middle, and elementary school coaches in support of the Athletic program and Health and Physical Education program. The Campus Athletic Coordinator works to provide each student with the opportunity to participate in an extracurricular athletic activity and ensure compliance with all state, University Interscholastic League (UIL), and local district requirements and ensures Health and Physical Education programs are in compliance with state requirements and local mandates. With this position, the Campus Athletic Coordinator for Athletics will be assigned to teach at least one class on the high school campus. The Campus Athletic Coordinator will report directly to the principal and the evaluation will be done collaboratively with the Director of Athletics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
  • minimum 5 years varsity/college/university/professional coaching experience or 3 years as Head Varsity Coach or current YISD Head Varsity Coach; must have active experience within the last three years
  • demonstrated competency in management and leadership, strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid Texas Drivers License
  • valid Texas teaching certificate with the required endorsements for the subject and level assigned, or valid Texas teaching certificate eligible under an accredited alternative certification program.

Responsibilities

  • Has knowledge of Texas Education Agency, University Interscholastic League, National Federation Associations, and district regulations and is responsible for its implementation by the entire staff of the sports program.
  • Serves as a resource to principals, coaches, and their programs concerning UIL and athletic issues and Health and Physical Education issues.
  • Collaborate with parents, school staff, and athletes to prevent academic failure and discipline problems.
  • Further professional growth of staff by encouraging attendance at clinics, camps, seminars, and other professional development opportunities.
  • Assist, evaluate, and supervise all new and present staff personnel as directed by the campus Principal and Athletic Office in an effort to maintain successful athletic programs on their campus.
  • Provide input to the evaluation of the Head Coach of each sport in conjunction with the Athletic Director and Principal.
  • Responsible for UIL Athletic Sport Participation Figures Forms for compliance with the Office of civil right to UIL, Ysleta ISD, and Athletic Office.
  • Maintain an open line of communication with the Ysleta ISD administration, campus administration, Athletic Office, coaching staff, community, and athletes in reference to expectations of appropriate conduct and performance in both their high school and middle school programs.
  • Assist and supervise all coaches and athletic trainers as directed by the Principal and Athletic Director in order to maintain successful and safe athletic and physical education programs on all campuses in their learning community.
  • Work in conjunction with the Athletic Office to coordinate athletic field maintenance and supervision.
  • Develop a collaborative and vertically aligned athletic program for campuses within their middle school feeder program.
  • Assist in developing schedules for all sports, arranging transportation, and any requirements for tournaments and special sports events.
  • Assist in the implementations of state mandated physical fitness assessments.
  • Advise and recommend policy, method, and procedural changes to the Athletic Director.
  • Coordinate and supervise the storage and maintenance of the athletic equipment on their campus and facilitate the fair usage of campus facilities by all staff and community.
  • Monitor Head Coaches of each sport in the accountability of all equipment and arranges for issuing, storing, and reconditioning of equipment within the policies and procedures of the district.
  • Promote all sports in the athletic program, foster school spirit and pride, participate in athletic related school functions, and assist in the supervision of the athletic activities on campus.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Athletic Director and/or Principal.
