350.org
2d$95,000 - $95,000Remote

About The Position

The Campaign Manager - Energy Affordability will oversee the development and rollout of a national campaign on energy affordability linked to 350.org’s global campaign and engaging our US local groups and affiliates, as well as other strategic allies and partners from beyond the climate world. The lead will apply their strategic insights, energy, and interpersonal skills to forge pragmatic partnerships with “unusual suspects” in pursuit of real-world impact, while also ensuring that we continue to show up and contribute to the climate spaces that matter. The lead will steward and develop key relationships with US networks, funders, individual donors, and policymakers, and contribute to the development of a fundable, longer-term strategy to rebuild 350’s presence, impact, and popular base in the US.

Requirements

  • 5-6 years of experience in designing and managing national campaigns that have achieved real impact and visibility; preferably with related experience of grassroots organizing and/or policy advocacy.
  • A strong leader, well-developed soft influencing skills, and a true ‘listener’ to diverse perspectives with experience in managing competing stakeholders internally and externally.
  • At least 2 -3 years of experience in people management and working in a remote team.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the US political and policy landscape, as well as US base building work. Proven ability to connect local and national narratives and opportunities.
  • Experience in managing complex multi-stakeholder projects where success depends on influence and persuasion rather than direct authority.
  • Appetite for and experience in raising six to seven-figure grants and gifts from foundations, trusts, and high-value donors.
  • A dynamic communicator with good skills in public speaking, media, and writing.
  • Experience of working closely with digital engagement and comms specialists to ensure that campaigns deliver on brand, supporter growth, and fundraising goals.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Program Leadership:
  • Provide hands-on coordination of the affordability campaign, working closely with external advisers and the Global Comms Team to ensure relevance to the US context as well as coherence with global aims and messages.
  • Help to shape US campaign strategy and policy positions (final sign-off to rest with Program Director).
  • Engage with key stakeholders (including regular travel and in-person meetings), working on and with the political apparatus on Energy Affordability.
  • Act as a senior spokesperson for 350 in the US, including through speaking opportunities, media releases/interviews, and social media outreach.
  • Secure follow-on funds for the scale-up of our work and capacity in the US.
  • Collaborate and direct response to reactive opportunities or flashpoint campaigns.
  • Expand and deepen relationships with national and regional partners/allies, including “unusual suspects” beyond our traditional networks: engaging them in priority work areas for 350, conceiving and convening new initiatives and longer-term partnerships.
  • Oversee campaign small grants to selected local groups and Network Council members and other selected strategic local partners; coordinate provision of non-financial resources such as toolkits, campaign assets, online training; and orchestrate joint work and solidarity actions around the affordability campaign.
  • Public Engagement and representation:
  • When called, act as 350.org's spokesperson in the US, representing us regularly in the media, on social channels, with donors, and at key external events.
  • Stewardship:
  • Develop and oversee the campaign budget and finances to ensure high standards of accountability and reporting by tracking the spending every month, and identifying any changes or adjustments needed.
  • Ensure the campaign is delivered on time, within budget, and meeting or surpassing stated objectives
  • Identify and monitor risks, escalating to the Senior Leadership Team as necessary, and ensure that adequate mitigation plans are implemented
  • Ensure safety and security protocols are adopted as required.
  • Collaborate and plan with Digital Fundraisers to run effective fundraising campaigns that connect to US strategy
  • Supervise and oversee campaign tasks given to partners and consultants.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures, as well as applicable laws governing operational matters.

Benefits

  • In addition to a fully remote, 36-hour workweek and two all-staff breaks per year, we offer a suite of comprehensive benefits.
  • This includes a premium health care plan through CareFirst with 100% of the employee’s monthly premium paid for by 350, as well as a 4% 401(k) match that becomes effective after 3 months of employment.
