About The Position

Position Duties Reports to the Camp Education Manager in the Education Department as overseen by the Director of Camp Education. Provide quality instruction for Space Camp® and other educational programs as needed, in an accurate, engaging, and professional manner. Instruct Space Camp and Aviation Challenge programs with courses, labs, and hands-on activities. Present programs and yourself in a fun, engaging, educational and professional manner. Excite trainees and guests about science, math, and engineering concepts. Keep all presentation areas organized and professional looking. Assist in monitoring and restocking all program supplies. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment for trainees, guests, and employees. Conduct brainstorming sessions with management to plan and design future programs and activities. When requested, in conjunction with Presenter Team and Camp Education leadership, research, create and develop age-appropriate activities, training and program materials that meet the educational quality and standards set for all USSRC educational programs. Meet or exceed the expectations of the Management for the accurate and timely completion of related tasks and assignments. This position has primary responsibility for: Instructing SPACE CAMP® Program lectures and briefings. Assist in development of educational presentations to ensure accuracy, make activities and presentations engaging and exciting to a variety of audiences. Conduct Outreach efforts in support of U.S. Space & Rocket Center objectives as needed. Requirements

  • Experience presenting and/or creating educational/ informational content preferred.
  • Have willingness to learn and convey technical information to the public in a way they can understand and enjoy.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal with individuals of all ages.
  • Applicant must at least have either a full Day or Night shift available.
  • Day: Monday to Friday days (6:30am-3pm)
  • Night: Sunday to Thursday nights (3-11pm)
  • Weekend: Friday (10am-11pm) & Saturday (6:30am-11pm), Sunday (6:30am-3pm)
  • Availability for Level 3: This position requires complete open availability which is Mon-Sun from (6:15am - 11:00pm)
  • Hours for this position fluctuate week to week depending on the needs of the USSRC.
  • Average 30 hours per week depending on employee’s availability.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer a minimum of 30 hours completed college credit.
  • Life and professional experience may substitute for educational required hours.
  • Theater experience and/or public speaking experience a plus.
  • Applicants may be required to audition for consideration of employment.
