About The Position

This position is responsible for: Assists in any area as assigned by the Camp Head Counselor. Promotes program quality and camper safety at all times. Provides faith-based guidance and role modeling to campers. Promotes and stimulates camper participation. Ensures compliance with camp rules and regulations at all times. Participates alongside campers during camp worship meetings and times of prayer. Leads devotional activities and faith-based songs with campers and supports the seeker’s ministry. Serves as a backup to the camp staff.

Requirements

  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
  • Some physical requirements of the Camp Counselor in Training/Floater position could be endurance, including climbing, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching.
  • Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity are required for manipulating activities.
  • Requires a normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Have a willingness to live in a camp setting and to work irregular hours, delivering a program at the facility.
  • Operate with daily exposure to the sun, heat, and varying environmental conditions.

  • CPR and First Aid Certification

Responsibilities

  • Performs ministry functions such as presenting approved devotional material to campers, praying with a camper, or leading in Christian songs, etc.
  • Participates in regular camp worship meetings and times of prayer. Leads devotional activities with campers.
  • Assists Camp Counselor with a group of four to twelve campers and helps each camper adjust and get to know other campers and camp life.
  • Interprets and maintains the camp's safety and health regulations.
  • Assists Camp Counselor with individual camper participation in group units and all other camp activities.
