It is for most departments, but not in the kitchen! Known as being the BEST camp in the Nation, The YMCA Camp Kern is open year-round and offers up to three meals a day to summer campers, school groups, corporate groups, sport teams, weddings and more!!. Just like the various reasons for visiting camp, our guests are of various ages and all come to camp with high expectations of eating well. Our goal as kitchen staff is to go beyond those expectations by offering various options to choose from that will fuel them for the activities they will be participating in during their stay. Position Summary: Works closely with the Kitchen Operational Director and the Kitchen Coordinator to develop a menu that can be transported to buildings onsite and served buffet style. Collaborates with other kitchen staff to ensure a well-planned meal service is served with the highest quality of food, clean and sanitized buffet tables, place settings and service utensils.
