About The Position
Camp iRock Summer Reading Teacher Camp Locations: Easley, Liberty, and Pickens In partnership United Way, the SDPC is seeking to employ outstanding reading teachers for our 2026 summer reading camps! These camps will serve rising fourth grade students at all sites and rising kindergarten, first, second, and third grade students as slots are available. Reading camp is to serve students who are not demonstrating proficiency in reading.
Requirements
- Possess a valid SC teaching license in either early childhood or elementary education
- Have documented and demonstrated substantial success in helping students comprehend grade-level texts
- Experience implementing UFLI with fidelity
- Experience implementing Reading Horizons with fidelity
- Seeking or has Read to Succeed Literacy Endorsement
Responsibilities
- Make the reading experience pleasurable for students, building upon the interest of students in the programs
- Collaborate with students on goals and teach them strategies to assist them in reading with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension
- Apply appropriate curriculum and strategies to support overall reading during reading, writing, and research workshops
- Administer formative assessments as required by the state
- Deliver UFLI in small groups
- Deliver Reading Horizons instruction.
- Promote the belief in students that they can be successful readers, developing and building their self-efficacy
- Involve parents/guardians in supporting their children in advancing reading skills
- Communicate with parents about students’ progress throughout the camp experience
- Partner with Call Me Mister to support instruction
- Supervision of instructional materials
