About The Position

The purpose of this position is to oversee operations of the camp site and provide a safe environment. Please note: An offer of employment is contingent upon successful background check and drug screening.

Requirements

  • Basic safety and medical principles
  • Leadership principles and practices
  • Developmentally appropriate activities for children
  • Applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Possession of ability to obtain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification within two (2) weeks from the date of hire. Failure to obtain may result in termination.
  • First Aid Certification
  • Valid North Carolina Driver’s License
  • Applicants must meet the City’s criteria for an acceptable driving record.
  • balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to inside and outside environmental conditions.

  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee operations by communicating with parents, campers, and staff, completing weekly activity sheets, and communicating and documenting infractions of campers.
  • Provides leadership for staff by communicating rules, policies, and procedures, attending weekly staff meetings and reporting discussions to Camp Leaders, and coordinating staff time off requests.
  • Maintains safety by attending safety training, providing constant supervision of campers, working with lifeguard to ensure pool safety, reporting any hazards to supervisors, and completing accident/injury report as needed.
  • Provides programs by planning activities, submitting weekly activity sheets and requests, and coordinating with vendors as needed.
  • Performs other similar duties as required.
