About The Position

Under the supervision and direction of the Site Director and Recreation Supervisor, the camp counselor/recreation leader will assist with the planning, directing, implementation, and evaluation of programs and activities. The H-F Park District’s mission statement is “to enhance the quality of life through diverse recreational opportunities, facilities and parks while caring for the environment”.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years old.
Experience working with children.
CPR/AED Certification or the willingness to become certified.
Ability to learn new tasks quickly.
Ability to recall details necessary to perform the job.
Demonstrate composure to concentrate on key job expectations.
Is responsible and dependable.
Demonstrates cooperation, courtesy and consideration when working with others.
Ability to adapt to change.
Seeks to continually improve performance.
Ability to understand role and make appropriate contributions to the team.

Responsibilities

Provide outstanding customer service to our internal and external guests by providing friendly, responsive, courteous and helpful service.
Assist with the planning, directing, implementation, and evaluation of camp programs and activities.
Plan, direct and participate in camp activities including arts and crafts, games, sports, and nature activities.
Guide, direct, and motivate campers.
Provide a safe environment for all campers.
Be cordial and courteous to the public.
Inform Site Director of all camp happenings.
Assist with record keeping including attendance, accident, and emergency forms.
Attend all staff meetings (camp site and camp-wide).
Adhere to the policies and procedures as outlined in the staff manuals and trainings.
Other related job duties as assigned.
