About The Position

FORT WONDER SUMMER CAMPS Camp Counselor Fort Wonder is seeking qualified applicants to join our 2026 team! If you are a hard-working and collaborative team member who is passionate about working with children (Pre-K-5th grade) in an energetic summer camp environment and creating a summer full of memories for our campers (and yourself), we want to hear from you! Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Responsible for the daily management of a single group of campers in a specific age group. Counselors must be willing and flexible to work with all age groups (Pre-K-5th). Provide campers with physical safety and emotional support to create a positive camp experience. Lead campers through their daily activities. Communicate professionally and effectively with supervisors and peers as issues arise. Commitment to full summer schedule required as follows: May 26-29: 8:00AM-4:00 PM camp training, with 30 minute lunch break daily June 1-July 17: 7:45 AM-4:00 PM Specialty Camps, Monday through Friday, with 30-minute lunch break daily. (NO camps June 19 or the week of June 29-July 3.) July 20-July 31: 7:45 AM-12:00 PM OR 11:45 AM-4:00 PM Specialty Camp shift, M-F Pay Range: $15+ per hour

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Demonstrated experience working with children
  • Candidates 18 and over must pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen
  • Positive verification of references
  • Commitment to full summer schedule required as follows: May 26-29: 8:00AM-4:00 PM camp training, with 30 minute lunch break daily June 1-July 17: 7:45 AM-4:00 PM Specialty Camps, Monday through Friday, with 30-minute lunch break daily. (NO camps June 19 or the week of June 29-July 3.) July 20-July 31: 7:45 AM-12:00 PM OR 11:45 AM-4:00 PM Specialty Camp shift, M-F
  • Must be able to push, pull, carry, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Will spend significant portions of the day walking or standing
  • Subject to outside environmental conditions
