About The Position

This position is responsible for: Planning, preparing, cooking and serving nutritional meals and snacks in accordance with established guidelines and schedules; ensures all meals are prepared and served in a safe and presentable manner; cleans kitchen facilities, equipment, and appliances; maintains inventory of kitchen supplies and food in a neat and orderly manner; assigns, instructs and monitors work of Camp Kitchen Assistant. Performs a variety of housekeeping duties for a camp year-round; Cleans bedrooms; washes, stores, and distributes linens; ensures the neatness and cleanliness of all buildings on campgrounds on a daily basis.

Requirements

  • Ability to meet attendance requirements
  • Ability to exert the physical energy to perform housekeeping and minor maintenance work details on a daily basis
  • Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and climbing
  • Ability to drive a golf cart

Nice To Haves

  • Three years’ experience cooking food for large groups with some experience coordinating the work of other kitchen staff preferred, AND Six (6) months experience performing general housekeeping duties, OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, preparing, cooking and serving nutritional meals and snacks in accordance with established guidelines and schedules
  • Ensuring all meals are prepared and served in a safe and presentable manner
  • Cleaning kitchen facilities, equipment, and appliances
  • Maintaining inventory of kitchen supplies and food in a neat and orderly manner
  • Assigning, instructing and monitoring work of Camp Kitchen Assistant
  • Performing a variety of housekeeping duties for a camp year-round
  • Cleaning bedrooms
  • Washing, storing, and distributing linens
  • Ensuring the neatness and cleanliness of all buildings on campgrounds on a daily basis
  • Following all Site and Food Service Accreditation Standards set forth by American Camp Association
  • Overseeing preparation of food
  • Ensuring that enough food is prepared based on the number of people to be served and that food is prepared in a timely manner as scheduled
  • Preparing and cooking food as the menu indicates utilizing frying, boiling, broiling, steaming, roasting of meat, poultry, seafood, fish, vegetables, salads, soups and gravies
  • Cleaning, cooking, and preparing a variety of foods and beverages utilizing kitchen equipment, utensils, and supplies in accordance with acceptable and economical cooking methods
  • Cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms; cleans sinks and toilets, polishes mirrors, and replenishes supplies
  • Sweeping, vacuuming, mopping and waxing floors; sweeps sidewalks
  • Washing, folding and storing laundry and linens
  • Cleaning windows, dust, and polishing furniture and fixtures
  • Assisting in performing routine check of housekeeping areas and all buildings for possible work orders, reports as necessary
  • Assisting in maintaining the grounds around all buildings on the grounds; pick up trash or debris from around all buildings as necessary
  • Maintaining and keeping stocked all housekeeping closets and supplies
